Hi Joan, Another solution is to go in IE to Tools/Internet Options; then choose the Advanced tab, and you get a tree of options, most of which can be switched on or off with the spacebar. Find Multimedia and, under that, there is the option to "Play sounds"; if it is on (which it is by default), press <space> to switch it off. Ok that.
