I can confirm this as I made enquiries as to the fact recently and was told
just as George stated from a dealer (Not Site & Sound).

Hi Colin,

Re: "I was also told that, in any case, my Jaws Professional
would not work with my XP Home."

Would you happen to know who it was you spoke to at Sight
and Sound?

The statement made above is complete balderdash. JAWS
Professional works perfectly well with XP Home.

However JAWS Standard will not work with XP Professional.

I am happy to stake my reputation on this.

George.

Hi again all,
And this is another thing that annoyed me. I currently have
Jaws
Professional, which I no longer need. I was told by S and S
that I could
not upgrade to the next version of Jaws Standard, but would
have to start
with a new full-priced version. I was also told that, in
any case, my Jaws
Professional would not work with my XP Home, so that was
another reason why
I needed to start from scratch. I must say that I've had XP
Home since it
was first launched and until I was daft enough to download
Jaws 7.1, I never
had any major problems. Perhaps it's time that more of us
started voting
with our feet.

Cheers

Colin

No it will not prove less expensive. If you go from version
6 to version 8
you also have to pay for version 7 which you are missing
out. That is why
the SMA system is probably the best option. The cost also
depends on
whether you have standard or professional Jaws.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am mistaken.

David

Hi Barbara.

I've been using JAWS for about 15 years and to me it does
sound rather
expensive, given that I am currently paying S&S about =A3100 a
year for
upgrades.

. What exactly would I gain for almost =A3200?

If I wait until version 10 or over, for instance , it may
prove less
expensive.

Come on guys. Is it really worth =A3200?
