Amie
Eloquence is the default voice you get with JAWS. You can download the
other voices by going to the Realspeak Solo Direct Download page which you
will find in Web Resources in the JAWS help menu. I haven't yet found a
Realspeak voice that I actually wanted to keep as none of them have the
flow of Eloquence.

Hi Tristram
Thanks; that sounds very promising. unfortunately, and embarrassingly, I
now have to ask what this Elloquence business is all about. I don't even
know whether I use it or not. Is it a part of JAWS 10?
Blushing in advance at all your exasperations.
Thanks
Amie

Also if you choose one of the Realspeak solo direct voices in JAWS 10 it
is then possible to alter its volume from within the profile dialogue.
Unfortunately Eloquence does not support this.

you need to have a 2nd soundcard for this or a hardware speech
syntehsizer. The easiest would probably be a chepie usb external
soundcard.

The latest build of jaws 10 lets you select the sound device to use
quite easily. In older versions of jaws you need to manually edit the
jfw.ini file to specify the sound device to be used. this only works
for eloquence, though, not other software synths unless you set up
sapi 5 to use the other non-default sound device on your system.

I know I could do it at one time, but that was using the old Text

perhaps check out other synths.

HI List
Using JAWS 10, wonder if there's a way to adjust the JAWS volume
independently of the system volume? I've just bought Sound Forge 10
and want to use it to edit on my laptop.
Any clues?
