[jaws-uk] Reading character phonetically

Hello,
How do I get JAWS to tell me the current character phonetically? I've just upgraded to JAWS 8 and when I had 7 I did this by pressing numpad 5 twice quickly; according to the keyboard help this should work in 8 too but when I do it it just repeats the character saying the letter rather than tango or whatever.
