I'm the uncle of Robin Drodge.
It's with great sadness that I'm using Robin's email account to announce his
death at age 31, on July 27, 2016. Robin was a long-time member of the
"jaws-uk" mailing list.
For those of you who don't know Robin, he was a lifetime resident of
Clarenville, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. He graduated from
Clarenville High School and the College of the North Atlantic in Business
Administration.
Robin was born with a condition known as Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS) (a.k.a.
Laurence-Moon-Bardet-Biedl syndrome). One of the many problems caused by
this condition is the onset of blindness during early childhood.
Many of Robin's other challenges were much less obvious. Liver failure was
one of those. Robin's liver had failed and, at the end, he was also
fighting kidney failure and bile duct cancer. Despite all this, Robin was
always the one in the hospital room with the positive attitude. Though all
Robin's challenges, I never once knew him to get moody.
I'll be removing Robin's account from this mailing list in the next few
days. Before I did so, I wanted to tell everyone here why he would no
longer be a participant.
