Thank you for explaining No I have not got skype yet I dream of a bit of
help to set this up. I get confused with the Buffer because I think a
buffer has several roles, Phil Medway on this list tried to explain it once
because I was having problems stopping Daniel speaking, this I only used in
Kurzweil, and it was mentioned that the Buffer may not be emptying fast
enough, as for Virtual I get the substance of that, but again I have in
K1000a virtual Printer, now that is not a Printer at all it can read Pdf and
not just normal Pdf but even recognise images and photos it will read things
that Jaws can't
If someone clever on this list can explain a bit about Buffers I should
welcome it.

Thanks
Dorothy

You can put the text in a virtual buffer by pressing control plus insert
and
W. The text is read by using the down arrow key. I find it useful when
I'm
wanting to know how big files or folders etc are on my C drive. I don't
know if you use Skype but if you do, it's a good way of reading people's
profiles. Give it a try, control, insert W.

Omnipage but K.1000, but this virtual buffer thing is something I have
been
trying to understand, what does it do please? Sometimes my computer
says
"the memory cannot be accessed and I have no idea why but wondered if it
was
due to abuffer not emptying sortof like a funnel, sorry not to have
answered
your question Mind you how long does it take for the cannon scanners to
warm
up Regards
Dorothy

Hi.

I've just bought a new Canon scanner lide 90 which has Omnipage 4SE on it
if
that means anything to anyone on this list. I've installed the software
onto my laptop successfully. I can scan a document through Microsoft
word
by going into file then selecting acquire text Omnipage SE4. The
document
is scanned but the text goes into a text box which I'm unable to find
with
Jaws. When I cursor down the page with the down arrow key, Jaws says
blank
line. I've tried the say all command also but nothing happens with that
either. I've tried putting the text into a virtual buffer which reads
some
information but not the whole page I don't think.

Please could anyone tell me how to get to the text box. I've been into
the
verbosity settings in word, but I can't find anything to change to enable
jaws to read the document to me as a normal word document would be read.
I'd be grateful for any assistance with this as I'm not sure what to try
next.

Sue.
