[jaws-uk] Re: Mesage with large attachment (92 MB) stuck in outlook's outbox: What to do?

Hi there,

I realise it is the size of the attachment that is the problem. I know it is far too big to send. My problem is, having originally made the mistake of trying to send an inordinately large attachment, I am now faced with the problem that I cannot get rid of it from my out box. What to do! As it happens, I have managed to convey the files to the person to whom the original E-mail was intended another way (on disk). How do I get this E-mail and attachment dislodged from my out box thus ending the circle of the program wanting to send what is an impossibly large posting.

Many thanks,

Terry

Terry, you can't send attachments of anything like that size. Even were it to clear Outlook the server would bounce it back. You're going to have to split it into smaller chunks using something like HJ Split. The biggest attachment I've ever known anyone get away with was 20 megs, although most ISP's have a limit way below that. Some may not even allow 10 megs. Neither does zipping make any difference to the percieved size from the server's point of view. It will see the file as it's proper size even though it's zipped.

Terry,

If you've got broadband, it might take 20 - 30 minutes or even more to handle such a huge attachment. Personally, I'd never send anything bigger than 4 or 5 megs via e mail and even then, I'd zip it.

I'm also surprised Tiscali don't have limits on such attachments... you might have to clear this via your server control panel?

Sorry can't help much more.

Anybody any ideas as it is just sitting there. can't delete it as the program informs me outlook has begun to send it.

Using xP Professional with MS Office 2003 Standard Edition.

Thanks in anticipation,

Terry
