My experience using Kurzweil and Jaws since late Autumn of 2003 is that if
there is a crash when moving from one programme to the other it is usually
due to something hard to define. I am sure that once upon a time you did
have to"put Jaws to sleep" if only because I was supplied with a very much
out of date tape tutorial with Version seven. A lady giving that Tutorial
Olga Spinoza told you to put your screenreader to sleep first. I
discovered this was not necessary .So perhaps it was with Version 6 but not
from 7 upwards. I didn't have an ISP connection for the first year but once
I did then crashed would occur periodically. I think I was told not too
have toomany programmes running at the same time as that may cause it. I
asked how many programmes are running and was told "in the background
thousands of programmes are running as Windows is doing the housekeeping" I
move from one Speech Engine to another and different voices for different
types of scanning. Jane for one type and Kate for another Scansoft fast for
everyday verbiage and Fine Engine for the tricky stuff. Incidentally
scanning Carbon copies is pretty tricky but if you need it and persist you
can do it or enough to get the substance and then decide on its future. .
If to keep or dispose and it is in your hands not a decision anyone else
has to do for you . Dorothy
Ps I do not know what Sappy Reader is? what does Sappy stand for please?
