Hi Dean, Ah 9.1 works with dragon 11.5 which is a free upgrade for v11 users. You may wasn't to get that upgrade and then move to J-Say 9.1. http://www.tandt-consultancy.com/pages/whats_new_in_j-say_v9.php Have you tried putting the microphone to sleep using the keyboard? This according to Next Generation Technology. You need 9.1. -----Original Message----- From: j-say-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:j-say-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dean Martineau Sent: Saturday, October 22, 2011 9:51 PM To: j-say@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [j-say list] system never goes into passive mode Hello. I believe I remember a discussion about this well before it was relevant to me. My student's system never goes into passive mode. When she says "go to sleep," or "stop listening," the microphone turns off and must be turned on with the keyboard. She uses J-Say 8.1 and DNS 11. Can we do anything about this? Dean
