[j-say list] a question about abbreviations

When I write, I certainly want abbreviations for common things such as Mr.
and Mrs., but when I write president, I do not want an abbreviation. When I
write my address which is on Tropical Lane, I want the word spelled out
rather than the sometimes used LN. the other day I use the word treasurer
and got Treas. is there any way to be selective about which of these is
employed?
