David-this is a "bug" in the Dragon NaturallySpeaking software that we were hoping would be resolved in the 11.5 product release-but has not been. Others may have some other tips but I would suggest some of the following would be helpful: 1. First although it's not directly related make sure that you are "errors" are turned off (voice command is Check Errors, then Errors On or Errors Off) and this will eliminate the "I do not understand" message. 2. Depending on the type of microphone you may want to see where it's currently installed to the computer and see if changing to a different port would be helpful (obviously if you're using analog in you only get one 'in jack' but if you are using USB you may have some options. if you are using wireless technology you may want to repost that I have some thoughts about the implications of this message on the wireless channel. I would particularly try to isolate the input port from any "noisy components" like network cards, etc. 3. I'm not convinced that this doesn't occur more frequently when one has input and output channel interference, again this might be something to look at and consider swapping microphones depending on which model is being used. 4. Try doing a recalibration of the microphone itself. Keep in mind that if your user is keyboard capable they can use the keystroke to actually turn the microphone off (as opposed to the sleep state which we call microphone off with J-Say) which would eliminate the problem altogether. The default J-Say keystroke is Shift +f11, for this function. -ed. This seems to be coming up every few seconds and it is quite annoying. Thanks. Also, is there a master repository anywhere of all the questions etc that have been submitted to the J-say mailing list?
