On an admitedly small sample here we found quite a few monitors gave incorrect
DDID information!
The printed specifications was also often at variance with the DDID and what
we found out impirically!

As far as I can see DDID can never tell the whole story as the actual
maximum scan rate on some/all? monitors depends on resolution and there is
no provision for supplying maximum scan rates for individual resolutions
