simple question - please help

Hi,
I have a question.
I currently working on a project to configure two ISA 2000 server in
Windows 2003 w/ Load Balancing and Fault Tolerance.
ISA1 = 10.100.1.1
ISA2 = 10.100.2.1
Once I created the virtual IP (10.100.1.10) in ISA1 for load balancing. I
can't ping 10.100.2.1 in ISA1.
Why? Is it possible that I can make the windows OS load balancing under
different network segment?
