default gateway

i m having the problem in my network,we are using a Dell 4600 server and
installed isa server on it in interactive mode. when i start my server it
could not connect to internet, when i replace the default gateway
(172.16.0.100 on my local interface)it will browse, and when i again
insert gateway address it works fine. any one could tell me why it is
happening ?
