I have the same setup for my FTP server and do 500MB to 1GB zip files daily. If you are using IE for FTP client, dump it and get a real FTP client. I suggest FlashFXP. IE does not handle pausing during the file transfer well. If there is a delay in getting the next bit, IE will fail out the transfer. IE also doesn't support resuming well. This also applies to "DOS" (prompt) FTP commands. FlashFXP does a great job of both. Another good client is Bulletproof. It does site auto-mirroring better then FlashFXP, or at least for the versions that I have.
