I use SuperScout quite a lot.

V3 has a memory leak which will leak 4 k of memory for each request so
watch out - it crashes my ISA Boxes if I don't reboot them once a week
and stop and restart the w3proxy service every 2 days.

V4 - well it fixes the memory leak. But it seems to have a problem in
the rule enumeration in a larger organization in which it takes 20
minutes for the w3proxy service to start. (~3000 users) I am waiting
for the maintenance patch which is due out any day now.

Aside from that the product is not bad. I do use the SQL Database so
can't give performance info on the flat file database. We run in
arrays, each box a dual 700 with 2 gig of ram.

Kind regards, George

We are getting ready to install the Surfcontrol Web Filter PlugIn on a
single server running ISA Enterprise Edition which acts as out main
firewall and caching proxy. The box is a Compaq DL360 with a 1Ghz P3,
512 RAM and will be supporting approximately 100 users.

Instead of using another SQL Server on our internal network to host the
database we have been thinking of running SQLServer on the ISA box.
Does this sound like a problem to anyone? Is the hardware powerful
enough? Has anyone done this?

Any comments about this or SurfControl's ISA plugin appreciated. TIA!
