Right. As long as you have a valid location for an auto config script
(ISA generated, manually written, etc). Wpad is for auto discovery.

I don't think wpad is needed for auto config script.
It is needed for the auto discovery of settings...
Right ?

Hi Tom,

This of course, assumes that wpad is supported in his environment.

Hi Aman,

Another thing worth trying is to configure the clients to use the auto
config script only. No other option should be selected.

HTH,
Tom

"The clients are Firewall client with proxy configured."
"IE is configured with auto discovery and with the script file and also
with the manual proxy settings of ISA"

This is what I mean; you have literally selected every option you could.
Have you configured your network to support wpad? If not, then ditch the
"automatically detect" setting in the browser.

The clients are Firewall client with proxy configured.
HTTP traffic thru IE
No error, its just slow.. some sites just don't open on some clients and
are fine on others. Sometimes the site opens with a charm. IE is
configured with auto discovery and with the script file and also with
the manual proxy settings of ISA

Thanks

Q1 - what kind of client is involved; web proxy, firewall, secureNAT? Q2
- what kind of traffic is involved, HTTP, FTP, Gopher? Q3 - what is the
"EXACT" error you see in IE? Q4 - what is the EXACT IE configuration?

You can't just "dump ISA in" and expect it to DWYM.
You have to read the help, articles and deployment docs so that you can
understand what ISA means to your environment.

After the installation of ISA 2004,

The sites are showing up slow. The connection seems slower.

Also sometimes the sites open up, and sometimes they don't..IE just
keeps showing "opening page"

Any reason for this?

I am not using caching. But I think still ISA shouldn't make Internet
access slower or behave like this
