SMTP on Internal NIC?

I have a fairly standard ISA 2000 setup with one IP number on an
"external" NIC, and one IP number on an "internal" NIC. I am thinking
about adding an additional IP number to the "internal" NIC, installing an
SMTP app for the new internal IP only, and ISA Server Publishing (SMTP
Publishing) to that second internal IP number.
Is that legal for 2000?
