Re: Remote Desktop

Ok. I'll defer to the 2004 folks until I can play with it. But if your
organization is such that you can't hang a test machine off your
external network then yeah, you're probably better off with vpn anyway
(from a policy standpoint).

I am using ISA 2004..
There is nothing known as HTTP Redirector in ISA 2004 ..
:)

1) as I said in my previous mails, interdev wont pick auto config script
You only said that Interdev will take proxy but not authenticated proxy.
Which is true. I cannot configure sites for direct access as "interdev
wont
take auto config script".. I don't want securnat , coz I don't want
anonymous access.

2) no http redirector in 2004. surfcontrol doesn't work with firewall
client. Has to be proxy. So have to disable IE in firewall client
settings..
and disable anonymous access or disable securenat... then clients will
be
forced to use proxy

3) I cant really explain you what we test and how we test. Each
company's
needs and scenarios are different and in this case I need access to
internal
servers by domain name.

1.1 - InterDev will work as a snat client just fine. Unconfig it as a
web proxy client and disable the http redirector (for isa2000, don't
know about 2004)
1.2 (If you want to leave the http redirector turned on for item 2) -
You really have that many webs to author to make a destination set that
much of a pain in the @$$?

2 - Leaving the http redirector on will force them use the proxy. Since
you already have the fwclient installed this should not be an issue.

3 - Set up a box on the outside to test from. Don't test external
things from the inside. You'll be chasing your tail for days. When you
test something you should test with parameters as close as humanly
possible to the real thing.

Number of reasons ..

1) interdev wont work...i had a whole chain of mails regarding that :)
2) want to force users to use proxy for IE so that can use Surf control
to
monitor. ( I know I can block anonymos access for HTTP for that )
3) Cannot browse internal servers with public ip and domain name with
securenat (I don't have split dns.. but need to browse with public ip
as
these servers and web sites are used for testing)

So don't really want to use securenat for client machines (except
servers of
course)

Server publishing requires the published server to be SecureNAT.

Subject: [isalist] Remote Desktop

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hey guys,

Another problem comes up.

I have published Remote Desktop for a computer. That computer was
securenat
and firewall client and Remote Desktop was working fine.

Now I removed SecureNAt, and the client is only proxy and firewall
client,
but I am now Unable to remote desktop to it from outside. :-)

Any specific reason for this ?

Are there any default firewall client settings which are blocking this.
?

TIA
