Please Explain: Blocking MIME types using Content Groups

Hello, to block java, macromedia etc you use content groups.  However,
there is no clear explanation on how to do it.  On the right side is a
list of selected types and on the left is available types.  Great.  Which
is which when it comes to blocking?  Are the types in the right column
types that are blocked?  Do you add an available type to selected to block
it? Or do you remove selected types to block them?  This is not clear, and
I can't be the only one wondering about this.
