Keep in mind, however, that repairing or performing an offline defrag
against a database will render the log files useless.  Unless you stop
your mail server, you're potentially going to lose mail stuck in log
files doing that.

Excellent post, one small addendum.....copy the mailstore and repair and
defrag the copy....no downtime...replace the bad with good when it
suits....:))

Done that a few times now.
