Not strange at all.
As with SQL Server, you can disable the network listeners on MSDE and
this is exactly what the ISA devs have done.
As I replied to WOW, the last thing you need is another "Slammer" taking
our your firewall...

This is a bit strange, the DB in ISA2004 seems to be using MSDE, but it
doesn't show up in any program that can access it, including Enterprise
Manager.  Other tables show up, but not the ones for ISA.  I did a test
on the communications also, and it appears port 1433 (standard SQL port)
is the only one used for access.

Is it possible that ISA server simply stores the files in MSDE format,
and doesn't really use MSDE except for viewing them in the log viewer?
The configuration options are pretty vague, the only options available
are where to store the files, and what the size limit should be.

Sorry for answering it here, had to use the "remember login
name/password" option, and still waiting for my reply.
