What?!? Quake III doesn't work and you're wasting your time with IIS? Shame, shame... Seriously, I've been working with UT for awhile, too. The problem seems to be a lack of standardization of server ports, as each one seems to feel the need to use as different one, even if they're on different IPs. Bear in mind though, that the UT group is one that recommends the following for "recommended IP settings" (from http://www.ina-support.com/faq/ut_pc.asp): - "Type in an IP address for your computer. This address MUST start with 196, 197, or 198" The best way to publish your ISA-based web site is to: 1. follow Toms' articles on IIS socket pooling 2. bind the web site(s) to the internal IP on any port other than 80 3. create destination sets that allow whatever connection method you need (FQDN or IP) 4. use web publishing to route the inbound request to the internal IP on the port assigned to the site(s) ..don't forget to either restart the web proxy service or wait a bit before testing. Ftp has been successfull for me but http has NOT. I'm about ready to pack it in and build a third box so I can move isa to a box by itself... (this is for a home network that I use for my own educational and testing purposes) I would really prefer to get it working on the same box ($$ reasons) So last night after my last hair fell out of my head I decided to lay off and have some fun.. so I installed quake iii on my client machine (on xp pro.. works good) and wouldn't you know I couldn't get internet play to work through ISA!!!! AAAHHHHHHH!! 1)I created a packet filter udp 27660 both directions for QIII and I am of course using the firewall client... What else do I need? 2)is it true that you have to have a FQDN to make a web publishing rule? could that be why mine doesn't work??? Its a home network and my ip is dynamically assigned so I can't really register a domain name. (yes I always verify I have everything set to the right ip in my config) I have just been using the http://ipaddress and ftp://ipaddress.. the ftp works fine. Socket pooling is disabled.. i'm listening on 80 on the external and forwarding to 8888 on the internal... what could I be missing? ======>David ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: jim@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
