We run it-- you can do all kinds of stuff if you would like- you can
have
it actually monitor the WebProxy service itself to make sure it is
running,
or you could actually check an external web site; if the site is
reachable,
you'll know the proxy is running. You can do combinations of
different
stuff to suit your config.

WUG does server-level service monitoring, custom IP/port service
configurations with custom response checks, protocol-level checks
like to
make sure something is serving up HTTP or SMTP, and your standard
ICMP "its
there" stuff.

Let me know if there are specific questions- I've had the product for
a
while now.
