Make sure you have no entries for Nexus in the hosts or lmhosts files.

Subject: [isalist] DNS resolution problem

http://www.ISAserver.org

Hello everyone,

I have a rather strange DNS problem on my network - my DNS server stores
all
the names for servers on the internal network, including one called
nexus.

When I try and ping nexus, the IP address it is pinging is an external
IP
that has nothing to do with my network. However, when I run NSlookup
(without specifying anything - i.e using default nameservers), and type
nexus, the correct IP is returned.

Why are these results differing? Surely they would both have to perform
the
same lookup with the same default name server?

Thanks for your help

Matthew Dendle
