The shortname (no dots in URL) will go to the "Intranet Zone" in IE and those settings are applied. If there are dots in the URL, it IE may use a different zone for that URL. Check how your authentication is configured for the appropriate zones and what zones a given URL might end up in. _____ From: Ball, Dan [mailto:DBall@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, April 27, 2005 6:13 AM To: [ISAserver.org Discussion List] Subject: [isalist] Accessing Local Webservers... http://www.ISAserver.org I'm running into an intriguing problem with ISA2004. Authentication credentials aren't being passed to IIS servers on our local network. If I type in http://hostname <http://hostname/> , it will pass the proper credentials, if I type in http://hostname.mapsnet.org <http://hostname.mapsnet.org/> , it will NOT pass the authentication information. I played around with several variations in the internal Network properties in ISA2004, but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference. The closest I can get is to bring up a login box when I add the specific hostname to the "Directly access these servers" portion, it is still stripping the credentials. ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist ISA Server Newsletter: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/newsletter.asp ISA Server FAQ: http://www.isaserver.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: World of Windows Networking: http://www.windowsnetworking.com Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 Exchange Server Resource Site: http://www.msexchange.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this ISAserver.org Discussion List as: davidh@xxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe visit http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=isalist Report abuse to listadmin@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
