Adelaide City Council - Focus Group Participants Needed Expression of Interest:
Call Out for Access and Inclusion Discussion
•   Market District Focus Group will be held on Thursday 18 June 2015, 10am-1pm
Adelaide City Council wants Adelaide to become one of the world’s greatest
small cities, one that is full of many unique districts & places. The only
sustainable way to realise this goal is for Council to adopt a place led
approach to the way it plans, allocates funding and delivers services. A place
led approach uses the expertise, energy and resources of Council, the
Administration staff & the community to create one city with many places.
A place led approach means ensuring everyone is at the table – the small
business owner, the person who uses a place - not just those who are typically
involved.
Market District
Why this particular place?
The Market District, which includes much loved places like the Adelaide Central
Market, Chinatown and Gouger Street, is iconic in South Australia.
Council is working with the community and stakeholders to come up with a plan
for the Market District.
The Market District Plan aims to identify economic, social, cultural,
environmental and physical enhancements that can be brought about in the area.
Focus Group Outcomes:
(1) Prioritises for action (2) Messages for district leaders   (3) Quick Wins
for traders   To inform the review, Council will host a focus group with people
with experience of disability to discuss and then undertake a site visit of the
busiest part of the Market District (refer to area in yellow on map).  Contact
Sarah Cleggett by Email <s.cleggett@adelaidecitycouncil> or Phone 8203 7385 for
details of exact location, highlighted in yellow on the map.
Six people are required for the focus group which will begin and finish at a
location within the Market District.
If you live, work, study or regularly visit the Market District area and have a
lived experience of disability whether personally or through a support role,
you are invited to express your interest in participating in the focus group.
Participants will be selected to ensure a combination of experiences, gender
and age are represented. Each participant will be supported with transport
costs and a $50 Coles/Myer voucher. Lunch is also included. Only those
shortlisted to participate will be contacted. Please note: the focus group
session will be recorded for review and awareness raising purposes. In the
event of inclement weather, the session will be postponed.
Expressions of Interest must be received by COB Wednesday 10 June 2015.
To express your interest please contact Sarah Cleggett by Email
<s.cleggett@adelaidecitycouncil> or Phone 8203 7385 and let us know what your
experience of disability is, your gender and age.
