Good afternoon List members, I am writing to provide an update on the process
to recruit a new Executive Officer to BCA.
As you will recall from the call for Expressions of Interest circulated in
mid-December (and available on the BCA website), EOIs must be lodged with Dan
Stubbs as Chair of the Recruitment Panel by 5:00PM today.
The Recruitment Panel comprises Dan Stubbs (Chair), Lynne Davis, Bill Jolley
and Greg Madson.
Several Expressions of Interest have been received and these will be assessed
and shortlisted over the coming week.
Interviews will be conducted next week and it is planned that an offer of
appointment can be made by 23rd January with the appointment announced by the
end of the month.

Dear BCA members and friends,
You’ll be aware that in October BCA’s Chief Operations Officer, John Devine,
resigned at short notice due to ill-health.
Since then, we have been fortunate to have the support of Lauren Henley, who
has assisted with management in the office as well as policy and advocacy work.
However, Lauren will be reducing her hours from January in order to
concentrate on her role with the Youth Disability Advocacy Service. The Board
thanks Lauren for her commitment to BCA and her tireless work over the last few
weeks.
The BCA Board has now resolved to move forward by recruiting a suitably
qualified Executive Officer, through an expression-of-interest process. We
believe that there are good candidates among our members and wider networks who
are more likely to respond to this longer-term opportunity than to another
short-term appointment.
We urge you to share this request with your networks to ensure wide exposure
of this opportunity. Please note that Expressions- of-Interest must be
received by no later than Monday 9th January 2017.

Call for Expressions-of-Interest for the position of Executive Officer.
Blind Citizens Australia (BCA) is seeking expressions of interest for
appointment to the position of Executive Officer. BCA is Australia’s national
peak body representing blind and vision impaired people. The appointee must be
able to demonstrate experience in advocating on behalf of people with a
disability; and preference will be given to those who have lived experience of
blindness or vision impairment.
The successful candidate will be appointed on a one year basis, with a view to
re-appointment to a longer-term contract
Expressions-of-Interest are due by close of business on Monday 9 January 2017.
The Board may request further detail based on the information provided in the
EOI.
The position is full-time and a competitive salary with superannuation and
access to Salary Packaging will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
Expressions-of-Interest should be in Word format and comprise:
· a one page covering letter;
· a CV of no more than four pages; and
· the names and contact details of two referees.
The covering letter should focus on the candidate’s ability to:
· manage a not-for-profit organisation (with a small staff team);
· communicate and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders,
including BCA members, service provision agencies, partner organisations,
donors and government); and
· develop and implement an operational plan, policies and procedures
which reflect the strategic priorities of the organisation.
BCA’s national office is located in Melbourne. While there is no requirement
for the appointee to reside in Melbourne permanently, he/she will need to spend
significant time working from our national office for the first three months,
in order to establish processes for managing the organisation remotely to the
satisfaction of the Board.
