Hello All, The NHL nomination writer, Robie Lange visited yesterday. He was here from around noon to 6 PM and then we continued work over dinner. We called it quits at 9:30 PM. Much progress was made and there is much to do. We have come up with a strategy of "lets just go for the NHL, we do not need the compete WWII history of Camp Evans in the nomination with the best district boundaries". If and once we get the NHL no one in the general public will care. Once you have the NHL title, you have the NHL title. Thank you to all who were on site yesterday. Nels, Judy, Dan, Steve, Rob, Matt etc. Robie went away very impressed with how dedicated you, how much you have accomplished and how you have a vision to do even more. He was overwhelmed by the MTMNJ collection. The use of Nels' Electro-Jeep made getting around in the rain easy. Ray Chase has been a great help providing his radar and Camp Evans history expertise. Thank you Ray!!! Robie left me with a laundry list of things to do. Due to the rain we will need help taking high resolution digital photos of the buildings. If you have a super resolution camera that produces JPG (even better native TIFF) we can use your help. We owe a great big thank you to Ray Watson, author of Radar Origins Worldwide: History of Its Evolution in 13 Nations Through World War II. He has written a comparision of Camp Evans to other more famous WWII radar laboratories for inclusion into the nomination. A balanced, non bias and critical view was needed. None of us are balanced, we are biased and sometime critical. Ray W. supplied the narrative as a gift to help save the site. Possibly we should send him a Camp Evans book? Even though this should be a snap, it will not be. We may be knocked down as only a portion of the site have been saved. There many be an issue of historic intergrity due to the demolished interiors. We will give it our best, radar guided shot. Thank you, Fred
