My experience with Indian line conditions have been that wait for dial tone
option normally does not work half the time even though we can hear the dial
tone - something to do with the dial tone recognition being very stringent.
I use no wait for dial tone but sleep for 10 seconds using , in the number.
This works fine for me.

Your Init1 is ATX0 (that asks wvdial to not wait for the dialtone)I've always used ATX3 on the dial string. Suraj, Whats the difference
