steps for installation:
1. as root type tail -f /var/log/messages
2. insert usb modem and note the device - usually /dev/ttyACM0
3. start KPPP
4. for modem select the device above, do not touch other modem settings
5. authentication PAP/CHAP
6. username: internet
7. password: internet
8. Phone number #777
next step depends whether your machine is on a lan or not. If not,
10. Choose fixed IP address: 192.168.1.0, netmask: 255.255.255.0
11. Gateway: 192.168.10
if it is on LAN
10. choose 'get ip address from dhcp'
11. choose automatic for gateway
save and click on connect. You may need to adjust the firewall to sit
on ppp0 and not on eth0
