Hi,
what's the difference between "rpm -Uvh" and "rpm
-Fvh".
rpm -Uvh will remove older version and install the
newer one.
rpm -Fvh ?.
Please clarify me.
Babu. J
rpm -Uvh will upgrade the package if older one exist or will install
the new one.
rpm -Fvh will upgrade the package only if older one exist and will not
install if older one not found.
let see this with example.
you have a 100+ rpm files in a directory which consist of GNOME & KDE
upgrades. You are a GNOME user you want to upgrade only the newer
GNOME packages. if you did rpm -Uvh *.rpm it will upgrade GNOME
packages as well as install the new KDE packages. Where if you did rpm
-Fvh *.rpm it only upgrade already installed packages.
