To this, I'd like to add that you can use procmail to separate out
your mail into different folders automatically (like applying
labels). Procmail also adds a lot of value. I use it to separate mail
from various lists, remove the unsubscribe details appended to the end
of list messages and get rid of the Yahoo! ads which are appended to
messages sent by Y! users.
Then, use mutt to read the nicely separated messages.
