Many would've noticed a 'global patent body' is in India lobbying for
a strong patent regime! ET reports here:

The interesting part:
"Giving an industry perspective to the discussion, was Mr Phillip R.
Wadsworth, Vice President, IP Legal Counsel, Qualcomm, who mentioned
that it was important to ensure that there needs to be lot of
flexibility in IP laws. "It is imperative for those countries that do
not provide adequate IP protection for software investors to take
immediate action and ensure that judiciary enforces patents with
claims covering computer programs and computer program products",
stressed Wadsworth."
I think this as an attempt to bypass Indian law that does not allow
software patents. I think even in the US, it was the judiciary that
first legitimized patents for software. So, I think now they are
trying to influence the judiciary first and later use it to convince
the legislators!!
Anyone else here been following what this 'global patent body' is
doing in India? Am worried they are upto no good here.
