it must be added that connecting such antiques over an always on broadband
connection, especially with all ports open, means your machine is going to
get broken into real fast.
just about ALL the daemons on those old distributions have serious security
issues that require you to upgrade to newer versions
if you have a different pc available to you, use this guy as a firewall box
running zipslack (all you need is a 386 and 16 mb RAM .. if you have 8 mb
or less, then there's an addon that installs an 8 mb swap file in a \LINUX
directory and uses that)
That'll give you a shell, and you can use lynx / w3m to browse, mpg123 to
play mp3s ..
