My comment was more on the lines of "why yet another distro?",
although I did not say so in specific words.
Edbuntu is already there with LTS support (based on 8.04). Thus would
it not be better to create an "apt-on" ISO that augments Edbuntu?
As others have asked, what are your plans in terms of providing
support, especially security updates?
School, college networks are notorious for a being a "hostile"
environment. Recall the IIM CBT entrance exams fracas (conducted by
ETS). In light of this unless you have plans to actively provide
security fixes (at a min.), I would suggest that an "apt-on" would be
the way to go. I would also suggest that you choose a LTS version.
