i am not clear on the details.
if the work shop is on 4th and 5th then do we need to be there by 3rd
evening or is it to be on 4th morning??

up to you - workshop would start at around 9 am - the lab already has
fedora9 - so if you mention what software you need installed you
could even come in the morning. If you want to install stuff of your
own, you could either come in the previous evening and set it up - or
set it up live when giving your talk. Dr Ilango is cc-ed on this mail
- and the previous one also, so press reply-all and he will get it.

Go to the
/etc/locale.gen
and add the locale you want or just uncomment the locale you want. then run
this command as root
locale.gen
then you can see what locales are generated..

Fedora 9 is community version and the latest one, Red Hat 9 is very very
old. Also by Red Hat, do you mean Red Hat Enterprise Linux? If yes then its
commercial version with no free support. Go for Fedora 9, though it has some
issues with network manager. You may try Mandriva which is also rpm based
and very popular distro.
