change my kernel
Are you using Debian ? if that is the case, try 'apt-get install
kernel-image-2.6.11.1-k7' to install the latest 2.6 kernel that you
wanted.
To solve your video driver problem, you might alternatively want to try
'apt-get install nvidia-kernel-2.4.27-2-k7' to install 2.4 kernel with
nvidia binary driver support.
........will it give any problems like my system getting crashed if i
change my kernel....
I dont think so.
is it probably i am having problems because of my kernel being
old??
Not necessarily. The kernel you are using is the latest 2.4 series
kernel. However, the problems you are facing could be mainly because of
a lacking binary nvidia driver for your kernel and X.
