off late, that might be the case. We received a HP desktop couple of days back
with Windows, they didn't give the medium.
Compaq (part of HP) has been doing this since 2005/6. They provide an
utility to make "recovery" media. So does Sony VAIO. (Use premium
media or you may be hosed).
This is the first activity (in my practice @ client) with systems that
come with Windows pre-installed.
