Would that mean booting with a CD always? I am not aware of this method.
Can you please explain?
boot in with a cd the first time. once you have booted in, run lilo or
grub again
when you boot in with a redhat / slackware cd etc - you get a boot:
prompt. You can either hit enter to boot straight from the cd, or you
can do this:
boot: linux root=/dev/hda1 noinitrd ro
assuming the kernel on that redhat cd is called "linux" .. in slackware,
it'd be called "bare.i" so you'd enter bare.i root= etc
that'll put the overwritten mbr back in place
alternatively, you could create a linux boot floppy using the boot
images on the rh cd and the rawrite / rawritewin.exe tool and do this
using the boot floppy
