I am extremely happy to announce bioubuntu-0.1 based on Ubuntu Edgy Eft (6.10)
which is a live GNU/Linux cd with 30 bioinformatics packages covering
pairwise alignment, multiple alignment, phylogeny and other miscellaneous.
It is a customized ubuntu live distribution updated to bugfixes which aims
to introduce linux to biology/bioinformatics community thereby bring the
power and ease of ubuntu to biologists/bioinformaticians/computational
biologists.
we would shorty start with packaging other bioinformatics tools and
make them available in future versions of the bioubuntu. This BioUbuntu CD was
released at a workshop on " Trends in Systems Biology and Bioinformatics "
held at madurai kamaraj university (6-8 march 2007) funded by
Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.
