To me, the stability and not having to worry about virri infection is
more important than boot times. I boot my desktop (once a day) with
the RTC auto timer in the BIOS and it is all booted up by the time I
get down to using it :) Likewise, I have a cron job that shuts down
the desktop at a certain time of the day.
