As usual ,i'm splitting my post into 'chunks of thought'..
I was just reading about the Mozilla Special Projects tour, where people
like Seth & Chris Hofmann (Mozilla's Director of Special Projects) toured
cities across to India to meet many of the Indian community members who have
been contributing to Mozilla. (read more at http://blog.mozilla.com/seth/ ;)
[1] why did chennai miss out on this tour ?
Would have been great to see come action here in chennai as well ( OR did i
miss it completely ). Any1 active on the mozilla community in this list ? Is
there any page to address chennai mozilla community .
Let's strengthen the Mozilla community here @ chennai and contribute to
Mozilla through : l1ion , translation , special_projects , extension
development,etc . On a personal note, i'd be interested in webrunner ,
xulRunner projects, apart from extension and XUL development for Firefox.
[2] Taking the initiative, and planing ahead
Considering that there is a lot of scope for localisation and committed work
already at places like iit-m, au-kbc ,imsc ,cdac , other open source
volunteer - i think we definitely have a very credible and established
sources for localisation. We could probably invite guest speakers from
people who had the pleasure of interacting with people from the august 07
mozilla tour .I believe a few poeple from the chennai centres of cdac,imsc,
and few NGO's did participate . Maybe have a meetup for discussing what Seth
and Chris were talking about, future projects/initiatives , and the building
the Mozilla community at chennai .
