Hi All
I run a dual boot m/c(win98/ RH9) with i815 e motherboard (Mercury brand)
which has integrated sound and video. I recently installed Slackware 10.0 on
another partition. I am unable to get sound in Slack. It works fine in RH9
though which recognises i815 e AC 97 sound.
In Slack , when I run KDE, error message pops up saying unable to initialise
/dev/dsp , so it will run using null output. Previously when I installed
Slack9 also this problem was there and was configured using alsamixer
command and was stored using alsactl_restore command. When I issue alsamixer
command , it says device not found. Upon listing, i found /dev/dsp symbolic
link to /dev/dsp0.
What is to be done to get sound configured in Slack 10? What has changed?
