[Ilugc] Ubuntu root password

Hi,

   I installed ubuntu 7.10 in my desktop by using live cd
successfully.During the installation I given the user name as
ubuntu.Byusing this user rights,I cant perform root
access.For example,When I try to create an user,it asks for root
password.Can anyone help me?
