You can also try gparted from the live cd. That has GUI which should
facilitate its usage.


Even gparted is showing it as a single partition only.



if it is Ok from gparted (all partitions displayed properly there) and the
problem is in ubiquity alone (the ubuntu installer), then please file bug
at
launchpad.net


I have currently created a new partition using gparted just enough to
install ubuntu and left the remaining intact. I am not sure whether I will
be able to recover the old data in the disk.
