Hi all,
Like a common person, I also wanted to see the closing ceremony of
olympics. But there is no TV in my room. Plan B, Internet. Started with
google.
1. search 'olympics 2008'
2. google gave http://en.beijing2008.cn/.
3. look for any video link. In the right, I saw one option, 'select your
country/region'
4. I selected india.
5. Hanngggg!!! I saw the message "This Channel is not available in your
country". But the page is present when I checked after Olympics started.
And I watched some good videos(especially lezak giving helping
legs(4x100) to phelps to achive his 8 gold, Jamaica's Fastest Horse
Usain Bolt's dance). But what happend at the final day?
Anyway, Firefox is here, and installed 'switch proxy'. I used this link
'http://www.samair.ru/proxy/type-01.htm' to setup proxies. First I tried
with China, I'm able to surf their pages, but no use, mms:// not
correctly worked with mplayer, second Australia, But in the list it gave
only one transparent proxy which is refusing connection. then I ended in
South America(Brazil, Argentena, Columbia). Their terra network showed
that fireworks and jacky chan's beautiful song and a 6min news clip
about the closing ceremony.
All we need is to watch those 2 or 3 min clips. But why so many
restrictions? copyrights, nbc/microsoft/silverlight, EuroVision's
regional restrictions, Is Internet really a one global network?
