I would recommend that you try Codeigniter. My experience with CakePHP
that it was too complicated and way too configuration heavy. From what I
have seen of symphony (never used it), it seems pretty heavy as well.
Codeigniter is simpler and though lacking in some of the bells and
whistles of CakePHP, it is nonetheless pretty powerful.

I too would recomment codeigniter. Me and my team has completed about 7
projects using codeigniter. We are very happy sofar.
