Hi list,
i have a strange problem here. We purchased a new machine yesterday.
I tried to install WhiteBox(respin1) the install boot form the CD. It
detects the HDD & the prob is when it detects the hdc(cd) and exits with
coredump. Then i tried with fc2 and ended up with the same prob.
To make sure that the cd drive has prob i tried installing win98. It
installed without reporting any prob. I cant believe it. So as a test tried
with gentoo(minimal cd). It worked. I could download the stage files and
continued the installation, in the course, I removed windows :-).
My question here is, why WBEL and FC2 couldn't start the install, when win &
gentoo did. Has anyone come accross similar prob.
My H/w config: Intel D865GV(orig),celeron 2G,512M RAM,80G HDD(samsung). I
have also a mild doubt about RAM(eventhough it passed memtest86 - false
positive?). Any pointers appreciated.
