to just one server and ssh/telnet the others from there whenever
required. any constraints in doing that ?

There are times when one needs console access to a server. Faulty
NICs, boot time problems, fubared sshd upgrade, reinstallation /
upgrade of OS etc. are only some of them.

Wrong route configuration, recent experience :). We are using 4 Port
KVM, it is fine.
